Thermocouple wires
Precious Metals Technologies offers Pt-PtRh thermocouple wires, extensively utilized in various industries for precise temperature measurement. Platinum (Pt) and rhodium platinum alloys (PtRh with 10% Rh, 13% Rh, or 18% Rh) are chosen for their exceptional chemical and electrical properties, making them ideal for high-precision thermocouples. Platinum, known for its chemical stability and high melting temperature (1769º C), is a standard choice for measuring elevated temperatures. Rhodium, a hard silver-white metal with a higher melting point and lower density than platinum, is valued for its low electrical resistance and high corrosion resistance, making it an excellent material for electrical contacts.
The platinum-platinum rhodium thermocouple measures temperatures between 0 and 1800ºC.
